The U-Turn/Signal

DESCRIPTION:

“The U-Turn/Signal” is a unique motor vehicle signal device which incorporates the manufacturer’s logo alert motorists that the driver is intending to make a U-turn.

Although “The U-Turn/Signal” is primarily designed as a retro-fit component to any existing motor vehicle, it may also be a standard add-on signal light for new vehicles.

SPECIFIC, UNIQUE FUNCTIONS OF INVENTION:

Today, automobiles have signal lights to alert motorists that the driver is intending to make a turn or is applying the brakes. However, when a driver wishes to make a U-turn he or she must either turn on the left hand flashing signal light or provide no signal to an on-coming motorist. This lack of a proper signaling device when a U-turn is intended presents a confusing and dangerous situation.

In many cases, the lack of proper signaling leads to vehicle accidents which can cause thousands of dollars in property damage and, even worse, end up with fatal results.

Although a recent study conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that vehicle involvement in fatal crashes has declined in the United States, accidents occurring when the driver is attempting to make a U-turn still remain the second highest cause of single- and two-vehicle fatal crashes.

“The U-Turn/Signal” resolves this confusion by providing for a left and right side signals which are mounted to the front vehicle fenders, as well as front and rear turn signal that illuminates and blinks which will alert both on-coming and following drivers to the operator’s intention to make a U-turn.  These front and rear turn signals are even more noticeable because “The U-Turn/Signal” replaces the existing manufacturer’s logo emblem that is mounted on the grill and trunk.

The front and rear mounted signals of “The U-Turn/Signal” are an identical matched with the manufacturer’s logo emblem for each make and model of any type of motor vehicle, with the exception that the replacement emblem of “The U-Turn/Signal” has a system of LED lights affixed to the emblem’s face.

“The U-Turn/Signal” lights are wired to either on the vehicle’s dashboard or steering column to independently control the flashing of the U-turn indicator making it safer for the driver to make this maneuver.
